Welcome to Melanie Longtin's Classroom!
Welcome to 7th grade life science. I am beginning my 23rd year teaching middle school students with middle level certification in mathematics and science. I am a Powdersville native and a Wren High graduate. I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. I then completed my Masters of Science in Educational Technology. I was recently named a 2015 SC Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. I am so honored to be chosen for this prestigious award.
I am excited to be teaching the 7th grade science and math curriculum at Wren Middle School. Our year is comprised of engaging, inquiry-based activities that are designed to make students active participants in the science and math classroom. I have designed my class to help students explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through project-based learning activities, collaborative groups, and a technology-integrated curriculum. I know we will have a successful, exciting, and productive year.
If you have questions, you may reach me through the Anderson District One email, longtinm@anderson1.k12.sc.us, or by calling the school at 864-850-5930. You may also leave a message any time of the day, and I will get back to you as soon as my schedule allows. I like to work closely with parents to ensure their child is successful.
