Hello and welcome to our class!  I am very excited about this school year, and I can’t wait to start learning with you.  Here is a little information about me so you know who I am:

I am originally from Louisiana, and, yes, I love crawfish.  In 2006, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Orleans with my Bachelor’s in Secondary Mathematics Education.  I moved to Florida that summer, where I taught high school mathematics for 10 years, 6 at a local high school and 4 in the virtual setting where I also served as a departmental leader.  I obtained a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida in 2010, and I earned a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum, Teaching, and Teacher Education from the University of Florida in 2017.

In 2019, I was recognized by the South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development as an emerging leader, and I currently serve as an ad-hoc committee member for the 2020-2021 class of emerging leaders.  I received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2019 and was named teacher of the year by the Anderson County Manufacturing Alliance in 2020.

I am married, and I have three children.  During my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, travelling, cooking, and doing arts and crafts.

It is my sincere desire for my students to be successful.  If you ever have any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to working with you!

Important information for students and parents:

    • Power School Parent Portal - Grades are updated in Power School as frequently as possible (once a week minimum). Please check Power School grades regularly so you are informed. Power School can also be accessed through the ASD1 website.  Grades will be weighted in the following manner:

      • Major Grades (60%)

      • Minor Grades (40%)

    • Google Classroom - Google Classroom will be utilized for class announcements (including homework assignments), additional resources, and electronic assignments.  Students will join Google Classroom using the class code, and parents can be added via email.

    • Make-up Policy - All make-up work is due the following class period. Students are responsible for getting the assignments when they are absent, and all notes/homework assignments are posted in Google Classroom. If a student is absent for an extended period of time due to illness, please email the teacher to make arrangements for making up work if you are unable to login to class virtually. Tests and quizzes should be made up within one week if absent.  Students with pre-planned absences, such as field trips, vacations, or appointments, should plan ahead and obtain assignments that they will miss prior to being absent.
