Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
Dr. Smoak's Virtual Classroom
My name is Dr. Amanda Smoak and I teach 7th grade math. I am so excited and honored to be your child’s seventh grade math teacher. This is my seventh year at Wren Middle School and I am so excited to be here again this year. I have completed nineteen years of teaching, all in the state of South Carolina, with fifteen of those years at the middle school level.
I am originally from Anderson, South Carolina. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education North Greenville University and my Master’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of South Carolina. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in August of 2017.
Even though I have two earned degrees from USC, my husband and I are both avid Clemson fans. I am married to Benjamin Smoak and we have two precious children. Our son, Andrew, is 12 years old and is in 7th grade this year. Our daughter, Kaylee, is 9 years old and is in 4th grade.
I am very excited to get to know you and your child. I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year. I am very passionate about mathematics but I am even more passionate about student learning. My goal is to prepare students for success in 8th grade, high school mathematics, and ultimately beyond high school.
I intend to make learning about math a positive experience for your child and I ask that you help me by supporting your child at home. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. I believe communication between parents and teachers is the key to a successful year. I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amanda Smoak
