• Teachers of U.S. History should engage in best practices that encourage student learning and retention of concepts. These should include, but are not limited t being enthusiastic for the subject of U.S. History and increasing student engagement, focusing on the standards of learning when planning curriculum and assessments, integrating technology and other subjects, using primary sources, viewing history through multiple perspectives, explicitly teaching reading strategies, making best use of instructional time, using a variety of assessments, and continuing professional development.
