I am very excited to be starting my twentieth year of teaching and my seventh year at Palmetto. For the first thirteen years of my career, I taught in Greenville County, the first three of those at Hillcrest High and the last ten at Woodmont High. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Anderson University in 2001, a Master's Degree in Education from Columbia College in 2005, and a Master's Degree in Library Science from USC in 2019. Also in 2019, I renewed my National Board certification. I have endorsements through Clemson to teach both AP English Language and AP English Literature, and I am endorsed to teach Gifted and Talented (Honors) courses as well. I have also been a reader for the AP English Language exam in Tampa, which means that I spent seven straight days scoring students' essays from across the country. It was a learning experience, to say the least. This past June, I celebrated my seventeenth wedding anniversary with my husband. We have a beautiful daughter who is entering eighth grade this year in Anderson District One. In my spare time (when I have any), I enjoy spending time with my family, reading (of course), baking, and scrapbooking.
This year, we will have a teacher resident from Clemson, Destiny Simpson, in our classroom. Destiny graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor's in English and will be serving as a co-teacher in my room from August to May to earn a Master's degree. We have made some fantastic plans for the students this year and look forward to working with all of them!
