Welcome to my web site.  Please explore the other pages for more information.

I have been teaching and coaching football for 41 years at the middle school, high school, and college levels.  My wife, Nealie, and I have been married for 40 years and have two beautiful daughters, Beth who is a teacher at S31,  wpearman Elementary and married to Jamie Owings and Amy who is employed by Family Dollar and is now working in Charlotte NC. and married to Bryson Wike.  I also have five wonderful grandchildren, Jacob age 8 and Anna Mae age 6, Matthew age3 and our latest the twins William and Mary born on July 23, 2016.

I attended Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee and earned a B.A. degree in Political Science.  I obtained my M.A. degree in Secondary Education  from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.  I have been at Wren High School since 1990 with the exception of four years I spent in Mississippi.

My favorite past times are football and reading.  I love high school and college football .  I also love biographies but my favorite books are murder mysteries.  Erle Stanley Gardner and Robert B. Parker are two of my favorite writers.  Of course I also love Grisham and Dick Francis books as well.  I love to travel and have lead several trips abroad in the last 25 years.

This is a junior-level class (required for graduation) whose purpose is to prepare students to take and pass the AP Exam in May. The work load is challenging.  Students will meet everyday for one semester and every other day for the other semester.  Students are expected to keep up with the work lead in this class.  This class begins with the age of exploration and continues through to present day.  This class also requires a great deal of reading and writing(outside of class).  Students who do well may receive college credit (by passing the AP exam) for this course.  There is also an End of Course Examination required by the state of South Carolina that counts as 20% of the final year grade.

    U.S. Government
This is a Sophomore level course that is a requirement for graduation.  It is a one semester study. We will look at the different parts of our government and Constitution.
